Sculpture series “BEFREIUNG (Liberation)” by the artist DREADNOUGHT

In 2021, the artist DREADNOUGHT was commissioned by Bain-Bleu to create two to three sculptures fitting the themes of bathing, relaxation, letting go, and freedom. After considering several designs, he ultimately chose three and developed the sculpture series “BEFREIUNG (Liberation),” consisting of ERWARTUNG (expectation), ENTFALTUNG (unfolding), and FREIHEIT (freedom), The model presentation was done at a scale of 1:7.

The idea was to place ERWARTUNG outside the entrance to Bain-Bleu, ENTFALTUNG in the water basin in the Hammam, and FREIHEIT as the last in the series on the central podium in the rooftop bath.

The artist was tasked with completing these three works within the next 2-3 years and simultaneously creating the three objects at a 1:7 scale in the original materials (acrylic, high-polished stainless steel). In 2022, ENTFALTUNG was placed in its designated location in the Hammam, and in 2023, FREIHEIT was placed in the rooftop bath.

DREADNOUGHT needed approximately 6 months for the completion of each sculpture, with the stainless steel part being manufactured by SCHMEES art in each case.
